It is hard to believe that 2012 is just around the corner! What a fabulous year 2011 has been!

As always, we have loved seeing our returning families again and meeting so many new ones along the way. It's such an honour to be chosen to be a small part of those special everyday moments in our clients lives. Whether it is to celebrate a birth of a baby, a wedding, anniversary, friendship or family, we get a unique perspective. Not family, but often welcomed like one and believe us, we consider it one of our biggest perks.

We decided to kick off our family holidays with a pajama party that involved baking sugar cookies with our kids (and perhaps a little coffee and baileys for us). It was a whole day affair and they loved every minute of it! Surprisingly, we caught it all on camera and wanted to share it with you.

From our families to yours, we wish each of you a wonderful holiday season with your loved ones and all our very best in the New Year.

Baby to Be! {The Arboretum}

I met with a dear friend from our "baby group" days this past Sunday evening to do some pregnancy photos of her, her husband J and her son J. We met 5 (5!!???) years ago when our first babes were just little. In fact her son & my daughter were born just one day apart. As many new Moms know, those first months are a challenge. You're sleep deprived and learning by the seat of your pants how to take care of this little one that you seem to be stuck with. I will be forever thankful that I signed up for a baby class through our public health. Not that the class itself was amazing, but in it I met 8 other new moms and we just clicked. We spent our mat year out together, navigating the aisles of Costco and you can confidently bet that every Thursday afternoon we were together. Complaining about that weeks challenges, bragging about the weeks triumphs and yes, eating an unhealthy amount of junk food as well. Over the last 5 years we've moved to different cites, different provinces, lost jobs, moved houses, started new careers, had health challenges and had babies. Slowly our group has grown from the 8 original babes, adding a little brother or sister here and there adding our latest addition just this week to bring the score to #15 (although #16 is close behind!)

M, you look amazing! I know this post is slightly flat now that your little girl has arrived but I'm so glad we managed to squeeze in this session to remember. Best of luck doing it all over. It's hard of course, but SO worth it.

Little Sweet Pea {Client Home}

Oh my goodness, this little man was too cute! There was a bit of a wait for his arrival which I'm sure felt like FOREVER for this new Mommy & Daddy! He was completely worth it though and we had a lot of fun photographing this great family in their home. We really hope to see them again as baby W grows up faster than this new family can even imagine.

Baby Girl, Big Bro {Client Home}

We had a newborn-filled Sunday last week starting with the B family.

This was our fourth time photographing this wonderful crew and we were so excited to meet their newest member A and seeing big brother J in action (and we do mean action!) Over the years we've seen them go from a couple, to a family of 3 and now a family of 4. It's such a privilege when we meet with families over and over again. The kids get to know us, the parents are more relaxed and confident and that all shows in the final product.

A & J, thank you again. Your family is so beautiful and fun. We loved seeing you all again and we hope to in the future as well! Congratulations on your new little girl. She is so sweet and happy...just like her big brother. What a joy!

Baby Boy! {The Arboretum}

It is always so wonderful to chat with new families, share new stories, meet new people. Definitely one of the perks of the job! We met M & J this week with their brand new baby boy E, just three and a half weeks old.

Newborn sessions have their own set of unique challenges. We're working on a schedule that has nothing to do with what we would like and all to do with the little ones themselves! We were outside using the beautiful natural light which was SO wonderful!

M & J, we hope you enjoyed yourselves! Sorry your helmet didn't make its way into the session but don't worry. Before you know it, your little guy will be big enough to wear it himself! Enjoy these amazing first moments with him. He's a treasure.

Three is just more fun! {The Arboretum}

Three IS just more fun! There was lots of love, squishy hugs and mild protests this past week when we met with the P kids (and Mom!) to do some photos on a lovely sunny day. Between L's dashes to freedom, J's big sister hugs and E's speed and ability to run, Angie and I were up and moving with just a few brief pauses filled with a quick succession of rapid fire cameras!

Last Sunday was a bright sunny day, lovely breeze, not to much humidity. Great day to meet with the Pozzobon family and do some family photos with the extended family. They were celebrating two people who have spent the last 50 years together, married and raising this great family. What an honour to be chosen to capture them and the people who are closest to them to remember this special event.

D, J & little C were our third family out last weekend for a mini session. This was our first chance to work with them and I think C was a little shy at first but in the end I hope she enjoyed herself because we sure did! She won us both over with her bright eyes, sweet smile and fabulous dress (which we hear was the bargain to end all bargains!)

The S family was next on our sunny June Mini Day. Two little boys who kept Angie and I B.U.S.Y but were so much fun! We've known and photographed them with our Mommy & Baby group a few times now and it's so wonderful to see how they grow up so quickly. It seems like just last fall big boy R was a wee babe and now he's such a big kid and his little brother E is walking all over the place!

I met with this wonderful family today at the University of Guelph. It had been a LONG time since they'd had photos of all of all four of them taken together and this was the perfect opportunity before their son Jeff heads off to start his own career up in Thunder Bay.

And now for something completely different...

When we met Laura & Adam (also at Dundas Valley Conservation Area) the weather was hit or miss. Then we paid our entrance in and it was definitely a "miss"! Luckily, they had the largest umbrella we'd ever seen and an easy going nature as well so we trudged ahead despite the rain. In the end the weather gave up! The rain stopped, the sun came out and as you can see, we had some fun while it all happened.

We had a busy and fun Sunday last week...two engagement sessions with two awesome couples!

First up was Theresa & Bob who took us out to the Hermitage at Dundas Valley Conservation Area. This heritage house was once a family home, now a beautiful ruin (complete with ghost stories!) and a peaceful spot for photos of this lovely couple. They have been hiking here for many years so there was a bit of their own history tied to it as well which was sweet and added to the fun.

We met the M family at Royal City Park for a mini session last Saturday as well. We have met mom and oldest daughter before, but it was the first time photographing their family and meeting baby K.
